Opening up learning environments : liking school among students in reformed learning spaces

The present study focuses on views of Finnish basic education students on open and flexible learning environments and the extent to which these views are associated with students’ liking of school. The data were based on an online questionnaire containing both structured ratings and open-ended questions filled out by primary school students (n = 684; grades 2–6; between ages 8–13 years) attending reformed learning environments. Ethnographic field notes and photographs of the schools were collected to provide contextual information about the settings. Most studies, to date, have ignored variance in teachers’ self-efficacy (TSE) in relation to teaching individual students (i.e., student-specific self-efficacy). However, TSE and teacher efficacy differ among students. Thus, this study examines dyadic TSE in four domains and their correlations with students’ perceptions of teacher efficacy and student academic self-concept and well-being. Results of a paper–pencil survey involving 29 teachers and 469 students (39.9% girls, aged 10–17 years) from German secondary schools reveal a moderate overlap between dyadic TSE and students’ perceptions of teacher efficacy. Motivational Class Climate, Motivation and Academic Success in University Students

Abstract The aim of this study is to predict academic success based on the motivational class climate, mediated by the university students’ motivation. The participants are 758 university students from the Dominican Republic, aged between 18 and 50 years (21.1% men and 78.9% women). A battery of instruments was administered to measure the indicated variables and a full structural equations model was applied to predict academic success. Determining your own grade – Student perceptions on self-assessment in a large mathematics course

International audience; In our poster, we report on students' perceptions on self-assessment in large undergraduate course context taught with the DISA model (Digital Self-Assessment) in which the final exam is replaced by self-assessment. The students found that practising self-assessment skills was valuable and encouraged them to study for themselves. At the same time, self-assessment was considered unfamiliar and therefore difficult. We argue that the DISA model encouraged students to take more responsibility on their own learning.

El objetivo de este trabajo ha sido conocer el pensamiento de los alumnos sobre la Educacion Fisica y sus profesores. Para ello, 788 estudiantes de Educacion Secundaria Obligatoria (337 alumnos y 451 alumnas) han respondido a un cuestionario abierto en el que se les preguntaba que es lo que mas y lo que menos les gusta de EF, como se imaginan a su profesor/a ideal de EF, y las tres caracteristicas mas importantes que deberia tener su profesor o profesora de EF.
